5A06 Aluminium Plate

5A06 is a high-strength aluminum-magnesium alloy belonging to the 5xxx series. These alloys are known for their excellent corrosion resistance, particularly in marine environments, and their good weldability and formability. The "H112" temper you'll often see (as in 5A06-H112) indicates it is a plate product that has been strain-hardened to achieve its strength.

It is the Chinese standard grade (GB/T 3880-2012), which is a close equivalent to the international alloy 5083 (UNS A95083) under the ISO and ASTM standards.

Advantages of 5A06 Aluminium Plate
1.Excellent Corrosion Resistance: This is its standout feature. It offers superb resistance to saltwater and industrial chemical environments. It is highly resistant to stress corrosion cracking.
2.Good Weldability: It is readily weldable using common techniques like MIG and TIG welding. The welds are strong and maintain good corrosion resistance.
3.High Strength: It is one of the stronger non-heat-treatable aluminum alloys. Its strength is achieved through strain hardening (work hardening).
4.Good Formability: It can be formed and machined relatively easily in the annealed (O temper) condition.
5.Low-Temperature Performance: It retains its toughness and strength at very low temperatures, making it suitable for cryogenic applications.

Common Applications of 5A06 Aluminium Plate
Due to its unique combination of strength and corrosion resistance, 5A06 plate is widely used in demanding applications:
